To empower poorest and vulnerable communities to deal with their own resources and practices, for seeking sustainable livelihood, quality education, improved health, hygiene and adequate nutrition to all, especially women and children for a dignified living.

GMKS strives for a vibrant and prosperous tribal society in which people can develop their own capabilities and manage resources to cater larger needs of the sustainable development process.
Child Development
GMKS started a programme in the region to ensure the rights of the children so that the children in the remote villages may get adequate care and attention towards ensuring their rights. GMKS works for overall growth and development of the children in various remote villages, with 1,031 children are getting direct benefits and another 11,500 children are getting indirect benefits from the programme which is now operating in 17 villages of the tribal region.

GMKS extends all supports to the vulnerable children particularly to their education, health and nutrition. Early child hood care and infant nutrition are the prime focus of the programme.
Special attention is given to tribal girls’ education and attempts are made to fulfill the requirements of nutrition of all age group children.  GMKS has taken it as a great challenge to fulfill children’s primary education and other basic needs. Child participation in primary education and adequate care of the children could solve the worst form of miseries of these poor children.
Child migration is another common problem of this tribal community. Family poverty and destitution force the children look for livelihood opportunities in various unorganized sectors.
This enlarges the scope of child prostitution and child trafficking and in most of the cases the children of this community become the gross victims.GMKS discourages such practices in the community and organizes awareness activities to uphold the rights and dignity of the children. It prevents all forms of tortures and discriminations against children and takes actions against such practices by involving local legal and enforcement agencies.

It has set up a child development committee consisting of 11 members who oversee and monitor all activities pertaining to growth and development of the children.

GMKS's child rights and development programme focuses the areas:
  • Quality Education
  • Early Childhood Care & Development
  • Health & Sanitation
  • Child Protection & Participation
  • Nutrition
  • Livelihood
